Life Processes and its type

What is Life processes?

Life processes are the processes that are performed by the living organisms in order to survive on the Earth. These are the vital processes which are necessary for the living organisms to sustain themselves on Earth. Life processes are essential for living beings for their existence on Earth

How many types of Life Process are there

There are five Types of life processes -

   1.Nutrition
   2.Transportation
   3.Metabolism
   4.Respiration
   5.Excretion

Nutrition:-

Nutrition is the  processes of obtaining of food by an organism to meet their needs for energy generation. Energy is required by organisms to carry out various tasks. It is one of the important life process which is essential for every organism

There are two types of modes of Nutrition :-
Autotrophic and Heterotrophic

Autotrophic :- It is the mode of nutrition in which the organism is                            self - dependent on obtaining food. for example :-                              plants are Autotrophic as they obtain their food by                            the process of photosynthesis. They make their                                  own food and are not dependent on any other                                    organism for obtaining their food

Hetereotrophic:- It is the mode of nutrition in which the organism                               obtain  its food from other organisms. for                                           example :- Humans obtain their food from
plants they cannot make their own food

Transportation:-

Transportation in animals and plants are of different kind. Transportation in animals is done through circulatory system while in plants it is done through complex tissue namely xylem and phloem

Animals have circulatory system which has blood. Blood flows through the entire body provides essential nutrients to the  various body parts while in plants, they have specialized tissue to conduct water and mineral. Xylem in plants conducts water towards upward direction and phloem transports food to all non-green parts of plants this process of transporting food form leaves to other parts of plants is known as Translocation.

Metabolism

Metabolism refers to the chemical reaction taking place in a living organism for their existence. Metabolism is of two types
Anabolism and Catabolism

1. Anabolism :- it is the type of matabolism in which energy is                                  stored for other function of the body

2. Catabolism :- It is the type of the metabolism in which the                                       energy is released in chemical reactions

Respiration:-

Respiration is the process which includes breathing along with breaking of food into energy. in which exchange of gases takes place

In the process of respiration exchange of gases takes place through lungs for organism living on terrestrial environment and organism living in water bodies respire through gills. In Lungs of humans when we breath oxygen in through our respiratory track it directly mixes with blood through blood capillaries  present inside the lungs and displaces the carbon dioxide present in it. hence the blood turns form deoxygenated to oxygenated. Now the food after being digested mixes with blood. When the food present in the blood comes in contact with oxygen dissolved in the blood breaks down into energy and Carbon dioxide. That released energy is consumed by the body for performing various activities and carbon dioxide released mixes in blood stream and is expelled out from the body by breathing. this cycle repeats and is known as Respiration

Excretion:-

It is the process that involves the removal of waste material from our body. it is extremely important to remove waste material from our body otherwise many disease can affect us.

In Human excretory system for the filteration of urine from the blood includes Kidneys, Urethera tubes, Urethra

Kidneys have Nephrons (about 1.2 Million in a Kidney)  act as a seive for the filtration.

Narrow Capleries are attached to the kidneys to filter blood
